Visa 482 Business Plan

The Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (subclass 482) enables employers to address labour shortages in Australia by sponsoring skilled employees where a skilled Australian worker cannot be sourced. For this visa, the employee needs to be nominated by an approved sponsor and is a standard business sponsor.

There are 4 streams under the visa 482 subclass, and they are:

1. Short-term stream

With this stream, the worker can stay for up to 2 or 4 years if a Trade Obligation applies. With a Hong Kong passport, they can stay up to 5 years.

2. Medium-term stream

The medium-term stream allows for up to 4 years, and Hong Kong passport holders get to stay up until 5 years.

3. Labour agreement stream

The labour agreement stream is for employers who have a labour agreement and can sponsor to let their employees stay for a maximum of 4 years, depending on the terms specified in the labour agreement. However, Hong Kong passport holders may get to stay up to 5 years.

4. Subsequent entrant

The subsequent entrant stream is for family members of subclass 482 and 457 visa holders. They can live, work and study in Australia as long as the visa is valid.
